Our
Story
Founder Lydia Spanier suffered a grade 3 traumatic brain injury during a severe car accident and was in a coma for 9 days. She was in the hospital for nearly 3 weeks, the recovery after that was all on her. The next several months consisted of OT PT and speech therapy.
“With all the excellent professional medical care, I was able to recover. A big component of my recovery was my family and friends and all that they could provide for me. Whether it was the access to my doctors, groceries, rides to the hospital, being able to be with me 24 hours a day while I was in the hospital, videos of encouragement, and even a surprise video from my favorite basketball player Karl Anthony Towns. As my friends and family helped me, I want The Lyd project to help support people of similar medical situations who aren’t as fortunate as I was. I want to support them the way my friends and family helped to support me." Lydia Spanier
